On Consignment, a 2010 Gibson SG Zoot Suit- Rainow in Mint condition. This guitar has never been played as has been part of a very unique guitar collection and is now available for sale. 1 Owner, kept in very good condition, all original hardware, original case included. Has recently been setup by TGR, frets are level and smooth, polished, and the truss rod is working in excellent condition.
No denying that it’s eye-catching. It’s made from a sandwich of multiple laminations of birch wood. Each is dyed before being pressed into a single block. Those crazy stripes you’re seeing are the edges of each thin layer of the laminated body – it’s not a paint effect. The images here show the Rainbow finish but there were a few colo designs of this run from Gibson. Rainbow is one of the more sought-after color combos. The neck too is a multi-coloured sandwich of birch.
This show-stopper SG is loaded with Gibson’s 496R and 500T puppies. These are built to rock and will take the Zoot Suit to a place far from that suggested by its jazzy moniker. The plastic coil bobbins on each are transparent too, letting you see the wire coils underneath. It’s an effect that only works on the right guitar. Other hardware is pretty standard SG fare but for the fact that the Zoot Suit has a single, master, volume, and tone. Tune-o-matic and stop-tailpiece, Grover tuners, and toggle switch. If you want to stand out from the crowd… this Zoot Suit SG will certainly do the trick!
